Mirogoj Cemetery and Sculpture Park in Zagreb

On the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain is one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe: MIROGOJ. It is not only a burial place but also a beautiful park and an open art gallery. Its arcades, pavilions and tombs are monuments to architecture.

The architect Herman Bollee designed the cemetery that was built in 1876, surrounded by 500 meters long line of neo-renaissance arcades with 20 domes. There are eight different pavilions and one of them is dedicated to fallen German soldiers. All Saints Day is the perfect time to visit Mirogoj, when this holiday is celebrated with candlelight.

A week later there is an official ceremony in the pavilion dedicated to fallen German soldiers.
