The Residents of BASTAJI 1878 – 1935
There are two Bastaji towns side by side, one being the bigger, therefore called VELIKI Bastaji, and the other is smaller, so it is called MALI Bastaji.
Veliki Bastaji was the older town with a mixed ethnic population, while Mali Bastaji was established about 1895 with mainly Danube Swabians settlers coming from the Swabian Turkey, the Hungarian counties of Tolna, Somogy and Baranya.
